Professors Speak during Jinan’s 110th-Anniversary Technology Lecture Series (No. 78)

Dr. Juin J. Liou and James P. Tam gave lectures on March 8th and 9th respectively during Jinan University’s 110th-Anniversary Technology Lecture Series. Liou spoke on “Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Protection of Integrated Circuits”, while Tam talked about “Biologics as a New Class of Active Principles in Herbal Medicine”.

Liou is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), winner of the IEEE Electron Devices Society Outstanding Education Award, avisiting professor in the Changjiang Scholar program and an expert in the 1000 Talent Plan program. One of the world’s leading experts on ESD, he has devoted himself to long-term research on semiconductor device modeling and ESD protection design of integrated circuits.

Inthe last 10 years, Liou has been awarded more than $10 million in research contracts and grants from U.S. federal agencies, the Florida state government and the semiconductor industry. He holds eight U.S. patents on ESD protection and RF semiconductor models, and has published eight books, more than 230 journal papers and more than 180 papers in international and national conference proceedings. At the University of Central Florida, he has established the Synthetic Environment Learning Center funded by Lockheed Martin, the Nano/Microelectronics Design Lab and the Solid-State Electronics Lab.
