JNU Vice President Liu Jiesheng reached agreement with Shenzhen Deputy Mayor Wu Yihuan on Oct. 10 on how to promote cooperation in education between JNU and the city government.
During the meeting at Shenzhen’s government office building, Liu reviewed efforts taken by JNU after Shenzhen Party Secretary Ma Xingrui talked with JNU President Hu Jun. He also introduced plans and preparation to expand the Shenzhen campus and expressed willingness to sign a formal contract with the government.
Wu briefed Liu on the development of higher education in Shenzhen, especially the campuses built by prestigious universities in China and abroad, and the new promotion policies. JNU has made distinct and significant progress over the last 20 years by building Shenzhen Tourism College, he said, and the city will support expanding both the campus and enrollment, as well as enhancing the programs’ competitiveness.
After a thorough discussion, the two parties decided that JNU would work with the Shenzhen Education Bureau, using the university’s advantages to meet the city’s needs. JNU will enhance its tourism discipline, optimize the programs and sign the formal cooperation contract with the government soon.
