​6,300 graduate from JNU

JNU held its 2016 graduation ceremonies at Shaw Sports Complex on the main campus, the Zhuhai campus and the Shenzhen campus on July 25 and 26. The 6,300 graduates included 3,604 undergraduates, 2,545 postgraduates and 151 doctoral students.


Guan Baiou, dean of the Institute of Photonics Technology, as well as a 2012 winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and a 2006 member of the New Century Excellent Talents in University of the Ministry of Education, led professors to the stage, opening the 2016 Graduation and Degree Awarding Ceremony. In the commencement address, President Hu Jun expressed his best wishes to the graduates.

Zhang Dongming, president of Nanfang Daily, and Xiao Shengfang, a lawyer in the Guangzhou law firm Sino-win, attended the ceremony as alumni representatives and shared their experiences with the members of audience. Ju Hailong, Ph.D. supervisor from the School of International Studies, delivered his blessings as a teacher representative.


Luo Ji, an undergraduate student of Chinese literature, and Zhao Yanxiu, a graduate student of international Chinese education, spoke on behalf of the new graduates of the College of Arts. Students then followed them in reading the mottos of JNU: "Loyalty, Credibility, Sincerity and Piety; Continuous Self-improvement; Harmony in Diversity; Unity of Knowledge and Practice." Finally, graduates ascended to the rostrum in order to receive the tassel-turning and their diplomas from professors.
