Delegation’s 3-nation American Tour Produces Exchange Agreements, Admissions Office

Zhang Ronghua, vice president of Jinan University, led a delegation to American countries including the United States, Mexico and Cuba in early June to discuss recruiting students.

The delegation received multiple applications from professors at the University of Kentucky to become exchange scholars at JNU. It signed an enrolment agreement with the Mexican Association of Overseas Chinese Communities and the Federation of Overseas Chinese in Jalisco State. It also reached a cooperation agreement with the General Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of Cuba and authorized it to recruit overseas Chinese and Cuban students.

At the Unidersity of Kentucky, Zhang and his delegation held a colloquium with its officials about the teacher and student cooperation and sports exchange between the two schools. At the same time, the delegation met with professors who wanted to be exchange scholars at Jinan University and received their applications.

In Mexico, Zhang talked with Chinese Ambassador to Mexico and the vice executive secretary of the China Council about promoting on of the peaceful reunification of China, and also met with the President of the Alliance for Peaceful National Reunification of China during his visit to Mexico. He sought their opinions on further expanding education for overseas Chinese. Later, he met with the leaders of overseas Chinese organizations from 10 countries, including Mexico, Panama and Brazil, and exchanged ideas on strengthening cooperation in enrolling more overseas Chinese to promote Chinese education and setting admission offices in these countries.

In Cuba, the delegation held a forum with the China General Assembly of Cuba and representatives of overseas Chinese to learn more about the education and living conditions of overseas Chinese there. The delegation and the China General Assembly in Cuba reached an agreement giving the General Assembly the right to enroll overseas Chinese and Cuban students at Jinan University. A signing and award ceremony was held.
